How TV is Changing Our World [Infographic]

Although every continent on the globe now has access to television (yes, that includes Antarctica), there are many differences in what is being broadcasted. While Asia leads the TV subscription rate per household, the amount of censorship used in China would eliminate much of what is being broadcasted in other parts of the world, especially programs being broadcasted in North America.

An astounding 79 percent of Americans believe that television violence could spark real-life violence, yet by the age of 18, on average, viewers will have seen 200,000 acts of violence. In contrast to North America’s large amount of reality TV programs, viewers in Latin America may see more programs that encourage healthy living and education.

Middle Eastern viewers have access to an array of programs that falls neatly in the middle of the other continents. While not as free as North America’s broadcasted programs, Middle Eastern viewers are seeing more and more programs today that include once taboo topics.

Europe, however, is dealing with a whole different set of television drama. Fifty-eight percent of citizens look to television to stay informed, yet 68 percent of citizens also feel as though they are insufficiently informed about European affairs.

Television subscriptions may be used by nearly 17 percent of all global households, but the content seen by each household can be drastically different. Even though this may be true, it says quite a bit about how TV is changing our world each day. Want to learn more? Check out the infographic below from direct-ticket.net.
