Although a medical career is generally looked at as being one of the best paying, doctors today aren’t getting to see a whole lot of their earnings – it’s going toward paying for the education that helped them land their job. Over 85 percent of students and physicians have debt from medical school. Add this to the 55.4 percent of students and physicians who have debt from their undergraduate studies and you have a lot of doctors who owe a lot of money.

One of the biggest factors a doctor considers when choosing a specialty is the cost – the more a program costs, the less likely a med student is to pursue it, even if they want to. The cost of school influences other decisions as well. Choosing what kind of practice to have, where to live, whether or not to buy a home and whether or not to have children are all decisions that can change based on how much student debt a doctor has accumulated.

In this infographic, The Student Doctor Network presents the data from their annual national healthcare student survey and how, despite landing in a great career, healthcare professionals are living with the burden of their educations.

Imagine yourself watching TV in 1947—things would have been far different. It would have been a shocker just to see a couple—even a married couple—sharing a bed. “Mary Kay and Johnny” was TV’s first series to show a married couple sharing a bed. You may be familiar with a certain “wardrobe malfunction” during the halftime show of Super Bowl XXXVIII, but the original wardrobe malfunction happened on a live broadcast when Faye Emerson accidentally “exposed her ample self coast to coast.”

In 1952, it was just not common to hear the word “pregnancy” on television—the word was too risqué to say when introducing Little Ricky to the incredible popular program, “I Love Lucy.” How often do you see belly buttons on TV today? Back in 1965, Jeannie, Ginger, and Mary Ann were not allowed to expose their belly buttons on air. “All in the Family” was the first program to feature the sound of a toilet flush. In 1975, Cher did what Jeannie, Ginger, and Mary couldn’t—her belly button was shown nationwide in the pilot episode of “Cher.”

Businesses of all sizes are embracing SaaS, or Software-as-a-Service, which is a software distribution model in which applications are hosted by a vendor or service provider and made available to customers over a network, typically the Internet. With this software delivery model, software and associated data are centrally hosted on the cloud. How does SaaS differ from other cloud models, including the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) models?

With LaaS, service providers offer pools of abstract IT infrastructure resources (servers, storage, and network components) to customers on a pay-per usage model. The service provider owns the equipment and is responsible for housing, cooling, operation, and maintenance. PaaS is a model where service providers provision fully-functioning computing and solution stacks on which applications are deployed. The providers provides the networks, servers, storage for the environment, as well as manages varying levels of scalability and maintenance.

Salesforce was the first SaaS built from scratch to achieve rapid growth. The products and services offered by Salesforce include customer relationship management, the sales cloud, the service cloud, force.com platform, chatter, APX Exchange, configuration, and web services. Among the key drivers of SaaS growth include broadband and mobile. Analysts are seeing SaaS as the primary type of cloud investment, with 82 percent citing usage today and 84 percent looking to SaaS as the deployment model for new applications.

International assignments and global mobility are a key part of business development, with great value for both the business and the assignee. Mobile employees benefit by growing personally and professionally, while companies continue to expand into new territories and promote a consistent international culture.

With data supplied by more than 750 global companies, The 2012 Worldwide Survey of International Assignment Policies and Practices report from Mercer takes a look at global trends and key obstacles in planning cost-effective international assignments.

Upon analyzing current demographic trends of expatriate transfers, the report reveals that age varies with assignment duration: 66% of long-term assignments are given to employees between the ages of 35 and 55, while short-term assignments are shared between employees younger than 35 and those between the ages of 35 and 55. In terms of gender distribution, men are still taking a much larger share of international assignments than women, with the average percent of female assignees remaining below 14%.

Here’s the complete look at what Mercer’s report revealed:

Surveys show an astonishing 1 in 10 of us have actually dropped our precious phones down the toilet. Whilst some may have a problem with co-ordination, take certain substances or have a few drinks too many, the rest of us really do not have an excuse for losing our grip on the things that are most precious to us.

According to several insurance companies dropping your mobile down the toilet is one of the top gadget accidental damage claims. We all know that water and technology aren’t compatible yet many of us take our phones with us when we go to the bathroom. Some people use it to actually make phone calls or send texts, while others use it for entertainment reasons such as keeping up to date with Twitter and Facebook or to play games.

Whatever the reason for the phone being in the bathroom, Murphy’s law dictates that accidents will happen, usually when you have just finished entering your extensive list of contacts or decided not to take out the expensive accident insurance. If the unthinkable happens you need to rescue it immediately. If you don’t have any rubber gloves handy try using the toilet brush, or failing that take the plunge and use your fingers. Whatever you do, try not to end up like an unfortunate man in China, who got his arm stuck trying to reach down to retrieve his vital gadget. Footage on China News showed him flushed with embarrassment at being saved by rescue workers!

Once you have retrieved your phone make sure the power is off and follow the simple steps in our infographic to try and fix it. And the next time you find yourself with a few spare minutes, instead of reaching for your phone why not come up with an idea for a nonslip smartphone or a change in the design of the china throne you are sitting on?

Just last year, Tesla Motors announced the recharging capabilities of the new solar powered charging stations. The new stations charged electric vehicles in just under 2 hours. Their efficiency has led to their planned mass distribution across the entire United States by 2014.

In addition to their benefits on the environment, EV studies have also shown that the decrease in emissions will also play a role in our health. Now if everyone could also get on board with solar powered electricity and understand the environmental impact, the future would hold a much more positive outlook for us and our kids.

They usually travel alongside other gray whales in groups called pods and can grow up to anywhere between 40 to 50 feet long.

This visual illustrates the 12,000-mile journey taken each year by gray whales from the chilly waters of the Arctic Ocean all the way to the warmth of the Pacific. Due to the region’s ideal climate, these 35-ton giants prefer to give birth to their young right off the southern coast of sunny California and Mexico. The shallow, sheltered waters of the bay provide protection from predators and allow young calves to prosper within the first few months of their lives.
What if there was a car that could bring together all the best components and technologies from the best brands and manufacturers in the whole wide world? That’s not possible, maybe you would say. Well, we say it’s possible. And we have a complete infographic to prove it to you.

The ultimate car gathers systems and parts from famous brands such as Ferrari, Bugatti, Audi, Mercedes Benz or Lincoln. And, surprise! It can reach the speed of 273 miles per hour, thanks to the twin-turbocharged 7.0 liter V8 engine from the SSC Ultimate Aero. A top notch machine, the one we dreamed about all our life and it’s now finally on paper, at least.

Inside its body, the ultimate car hides technologies like the Bose suspension system from Lexus LS400, a product that took 24 years to develop and provides the smoothest rides. The vehicle also features the braking system from Bugatti Veyron, which can stop a car going 62 miles per hour in just 2.3 seconds thanks to the latest carbon ceramic brakes. They’re so resistant that they can endure temperatures of 1.100oC.

Closer to the driver, the ultimate car also features a Dynamic and Intuitive Control System (DICE), from Mercedes Benz. This system transforms the vehicle’s dashboard and windshield into a platform where information from the web can be displayed. The Nanowipe technology from Ferrari coats the windshield of water, excluding the need for wipers, and the rotary drop doors, inspired by the model Lincoln Mark VIII, slide up and down, making the driver seem like the coolest person on the face of the Earth.

To end on a high note, the vehicle also features the latest sound system created by Bang & Olufsen, the same one that makes part of the Audi A6 Saloon, with 19 loudspeakers. Too much? Nothing is too much for the ultimate car!

For those late to the party, performance marketing involves a customer visiting content on the website of an affiliate, such as a deal, product review, discount, etc. The customer then follows a link on to that business’s website. Affiliate networks manage the affiliates and track sales so that businesses can pay a commission to the publishers that send sales to their site.

Performance marketing grew 57% between 2008 and 2012, for an average of 12% annually. Not to mention, the return on investment is pretty stellar: for every $1 spent on performance marketing, it brings in $11 of revenue.

And yet, an alarming number of enterprise brands don’t participate.

Surely some have good reasons – after all, every business’s customers are different and not every marketing channel is good for every business. But many are simply ignorant of the potential benefits performance marketing could provide their business.

Thankfully the marketing experts at CAKE, responsible for one of the leading performance marketing platforms out there, have created an infographic that offers a crash course in the power of performance marketing including:how performance marketing works, the growing impact of performance marketing, whether some businesses are missing the boat, overcoming barriers and five reasons to move into performance marketing.

The busy business owner who’s got only thirty seconds to spare should skip to the bottom to see quickly if they should get into performance marketing.

Understanding the communities of those you want to help and education are both steps in the right direction, but there are some truly great social workers that have sacrificed a lot of their personal time, spent countless hours attempting to make things happen, often times not knowing what the outcome will be. Some say the work of a social worker is never really finished.

However, the positive impact that come from those dedicated to social justice are incredible. Check out this infographic by Case Western Reserve University Online Social Work Degree, featuring just a handful of the good-hearted, social workers whose stories impact and inspire those who read.

Innovation has been around for centuries but it’s only the latter half of the 20th century that technology has rapidly progressed, which has allowed mankind to build structures of unparalleled craft and engineering prowess.

Exploring the most spectacular engineering projects of our time teaches us the sacrifice and hard work these symbols of determination and progress put forth. Here are 5 of just some of the greatest engineering projects man has ever created that completely changed our perspective over the world.

The first is the International Space Station (ISS), which boasts the greatest construction of all time bringing together the design and work of over 100,000 individuals across 16 nations, and 4 continents. This fully functioning space research facility weighs an astounding 924,739 pounds and cost over 96 billion dollars.

Next is the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), which is the most expensive science experiment to date. The underground circular housing alone is 16.77 miles long and is powered by over 120 million watts per day.

The tallest man-made object goes to the third runner up, the Milau Viaduct, the tallest bridge in the world. At a height of 1,122 feet it’s no wonder it weighs over 36,000 tons.

Coming in at number 4 is the Three Gorges Dam, the world’s largest water conservation project in the world. This single dam accounts for 10% of China’s entire energy production and contains roughly 27.15 million cubic meters of cement.

And last but not least is the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. At 2,716.5 feet it towers the second tallest building by over 1,000 feet. And if that wasn’t impressive enough it also set a world record for vertically pumped concrete, just under 2,000 feet.

After reading up on this infographic from Americantrainco, there is no doubt it will leave you in awe of how and what we’re capable of when equipped with some tools and sheer ingenuity.

Private sector banks are embracing social media far quicker than their public sector counterparts. Use of social media can help make a company appear to be more accessible, which may explain why most private sector banks have jumped on this bandwagon, leaving the public sector banks far behind. As private banks engage in fierce competition with each other to manage the finances of India’s middle class, Facebook has proven to be a deciding battleground. However, with social media being a two way conversation, only a handful of banks have dared to embrace the veritable minefield of actively engaging in two way conversations with customers out in the open.

Today, Unmetric, the company that tells global brands how they stack up against the competition on social media, releases its India’s Banks on Social Media report. The report examines every aspect of the banks’ Q1 social media strategy – January 1st, 2013 to March 31st, 2013.

Key to rating the social media performance of the banks is the Unmetric Score, a unique measurement designed to give ‘sector aware’ context to social media activity. The score is a scientific blend of various qualitative and quantitative social media metrics, weighted and balanced to produce a single benchmarkable number.

To that end, the Unmetric Scores from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube were added together to determine the overall winner. It was found that HDFC Bank is the leading bank on social media with a score of 110 but ICICI bank is not far behind with a score of 108. In third place was Axis Bank with a score of 93.

The findings have been embedded in an infographic which is shared below and there after a detailed explanation of what the numbers mean.

Banks on Facebook

When it comes to social media usage amongst banks, there is only one winner – Facebook. Where brands in other sectors have been quick to embrace Twitter, YouTube and even Pinterest, the banking sector prefers to keep the conversation to Facebook. Remarkably, when it comes to Indian banks, for every 1,000 Facebook fans, there are just 8 Followers on Twitter and 1.5 Subscribers on YouTube.

Between them, the banks have amassed 6 million fans, with a third of those coming from ICICI Bank, although HDFC Bank isn’t far behind at 1.5 million fans. Axis Bank is the only other bank to have crossed the 1 million fan threshold. There is no slowdown in sight either, as Asian banks grew by an average of 25% between January and March. Standard Chartered Bank lead the growth charge, registering a jaw dropping 2,780% fan growth, although this was because the account was only created in December 2012 and grew from 4,000 to 100,000 fans in three months. HDFC Bank achieved impressive growth of 120%, more impressive considering the large number of fans it started with. IndusInd Bank also nearly doubled their fans; however, the bank had just over 1,000 fans to begin with.

Engagement on Facebook: Fan numbers alone don’t always tell the full story, people need to be updated and importantly, engage with the content that the brands post. Unmetric uses an algorithm based on the number of Likes, Comments, Shares and Estimated Impressions to produce a benchmarkable score to rate fan engagement. Leading the social engagement using this score was IndusInd which scored 390, thanks to its relatively low fan numbers, achieved high engagement because a high percentage of fans interacted with the posts. DCB Bank, which had the second highest engagement score at 358, also had a high number of fans interacting with the posts even though it has less than 700 fans. ICICI Bank, which posted 93 times in the period analyzed, scored 104, which was impressive considering it has the most fans. It means that ICICI has been able to successfully leverage their large fan base and post engaging content.

Content Strategy on Facebook: Unmetric takes the fan engagement analysis one step further by employing a team of data analysts to categorize and tag every Facebook post to uncover the content strategies of top brands. When this analysis was applied to the banks in India, it was found that they mostly focused on asking brand related questions to fans. Promotions was the second most popular content followed closely by contests. However, these were not the most engaging topics for fans. It was brand news that saw the highest levels of engagement, followed by engagement oriented posts (ie. “Like this post if…”) and posts about corporate social responsibility. Ad Campaigns also saw high engagement, despite being one of the least posted items.

Banks on Twitter

Banks appear to give much less importance to Twitter with only six out of the eleven banks having a presence on this social network. Kotak Mahindra Bank comes out on top with 17,409 followers and IDBI, a public sector bank is second with 12,484 followers. In third place is ICICI Bank with 7,483 followers. Kotak Mahindra Bank saw a staggering 1,409% growth in its fan base in the three month period analyzed. YES Bank grew by 43.2% while Axis Bank grew by 34.6%. Interestingly, IDBI lost fans during the same period.

The six banks analyzed sent an average of 10 tweets per day. HDFC Bank was the most prolific, tweeting 18 times a day. The banks mostly used Twitter to reply to questions, yet they don’t always seem to be in a hurry to reply. IDBI replied to 25 tweets in an average of 9 hours per tweet, whereas HDFC Bank replied to 916 tweets in an average of 19 hours per tweet. ICICI has taken the trouble to set up a dedicated Twitter support account where customers can tweet their problems and get a response; however, it takes ICICI nearly two days, on average, to reply to a tweet.

When it came to actually dishing out the customer service, banks mostly preferred to get customers to call the helpline. ICICI looked to take the conversation out of public view by requesting people to send them a Direct Message – possibly due to the sensitive nature of the questions being asked. HDFC Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank also directed people to send the question to a specific support email address.

Banks on YouTube

Many big brands in India have been slow to adopt YouTube, possibly due to the higher costs involved in producing video content. Six of the eleven banks analyzed were found to have a YouTube account, however, only three banks showed any activity in the last three months. ICICI Bank leads with the most active YouTube channel; it has uploaded a total of 140 videos, 40 of which were in the last month. Unlike other banks, which just upload their commercials, ICICI Bank also uploads interviews with financial analysts to help people make sense of the global economy.

However, it’s Axis Bank that wins overall on YouTube. The bank saw its video views grow by over 260% in three months, giving it more views than all other Indian banks on YouTube. Axis also posted an equally high subscriber growth rate, 290%, making it the most popular and most watched banking channel in India.

The bank can owe much of its success to its recent Progress Together campaign which showed how lives are intertwined. Further analysis found that Axis Bank has one of the shortest average video lengths out of all the banks. In a world of reduced attention spans, YouTube has succeeded due to its endless supply of short clips. While other banks average 3 or more minutes per video – the average HDFC Bank video is over 7 minutes long – Axis keeps it short with an average length of 57 seconds per video.

Display Ads (And How Mobile Fits In) [Infographic]" />

Within the online ad universe, there’s been a battle brewing. Which works best, native ads or banner/display ads? According to results from this native ad effectiveness study conducted by Sharethrough and IPG Media Lab, native advertising engages audiences in deeper, lengthier ways. The study’s goal was to measure “visual attention and brand lift” via native ads for various brands as compared with traditional display ads. Sharethrough has a vested interest in these rising numbers as it launched its Mobile Sponsored Stories technology, which powers native ads through the mobile web, including video ads.

Tackling mobile with native ads is more or less uncharted territory at this point, but as mobile activity continues to increase amongst consumers, it seems a natural progression — meeting the consumer where they spend their time and attempting to engage them with ads appropriate to their viewed content. Sharethrough uses Real Time Templating (RTT) technology that enable the ads to identify and match the look and feel of a given site.

Here are some results from the study, which can be further analyzed via the included infographic below:

Consumers looked at native ads 53% more frequently than display ads.

25% more consumers were measured to look at in-feed native ad placements (the most common editorial native ad format) than display ad units.

Social marketing scientist Dan Zarella just released data that shows how including exclamation points in your tweets earn more syndication (Retweets) but less clicks.

How to Use This Data

Earning Retweets without click-throughs on links within the tweet is a rare combination that is useful in one particular case – spreading messages. The data in Zarrella’s infographic didn’t mention anything about reducing the effectiveness of Retweets by including links, so it won’t hurt to include a link. However, make sure that the message that you attach is useful without requiring a user to click the link.

Spread the word about sales and promotions by adding exclamation points with the offer. Be sure that the information in the text gives users enough information about the offer without requiring a click-through to the link. Using ‘find out more’ to push users to click on a link in the message is not a great strategy here. This technique would work particularly well with larger brands that have enough brand equity that the reader would remember or know how to reach the offer (ex: notifying Twitter users of an exclusive weekend sale at a retail location).

Just remember that adding exclamation points has a negative effect on click-throughs, so don’t rely on the link that you attach as crucial to understanding the message. However, the data doesn’t show that adding a link decreases Retweets (the real goal) so add links if you want since it doesn’t hurt to try!

Is online giving right for your church? It is if your church could use an extra week of tithes and offerings each month. Sixty-six percent of U.S. consumers pay bills online, and fewer checks are being paid each year.

Of 1,078 churches surveyed, 14 percent were exceeding their annual budget for tithes and offerings. Of those churches, some of the top factors that influenced giving are: they accept automatic recurring donations, they offer online giving, and they use a giving kiosk, among others. In times of crisis, online giving can offer a fast and convenient way to give quickly. It also allows multiple gifts to be made in one transaction, and the ability to review your giving history.

There are many reasons your church should offer online giving. For instance, online giving allows recurring payments, which can turn irregular givers into regular givers. Ninety-four percent of people ages 18-29 use the Internet; so online giving will also get the younger generation involved in your financial base. People who no longer carry checks and cash will become frustrated if online giving is not offered, and are therefore less likely to give.

One of the churches that put online giving on the map, Faith Promise Church in Knoxville, TN, receives 33 percent of its total tithes and offerings online. If you are interested in a similar trend in your Church, check out the infographic below to learn more.

Billionaire Elon Musk is an American entrepreneur who was born and raised in South Africa. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a second bachelor’s degree in Physics. He is co-founder of Tesla Motors and PayPal and founded his third company, Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX), in June 2002. SpaceX develops and manufactures space launch vehicles with a focus on advancing the state of rocket technology. SpaceX was awarded a $1.6 billion NASA contract in 2008 for 12 flights of their Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft to the International Space Station, replacing the Space Shuttle after it retired in 2011. SpaceX has designed Falcon 9/Dragon with astronaut transport in mind and the Augustine commission has recommended that astronaut transport be handled by commercial companies like SpaceX.

American billionaire playboy, industrialist and ingenious engineer, Tony Stark is a fictional character created by Stan Lee for Marvel Comics. Through his corporation ― Stark Industries ― Stark has created many military weapons and while in Afghanistan demonstrating a new missile, he is captured and wounded. His captors want him to assemble a missile for them but instead he creates an armored suit and a means to prevent his death from the shrapnel left in his chest by the attack. He escapes using the suit and decides to protect the world from villains, joining the superhero team the Avengers and becoming known as Iron Man.

Whilst one is a larger-than-life person and the other a fictional character, both men have a lot in common. Iron Man first appeared in 1963 and Musk was born 8 years later. Apart from similar physical characterisitics, both followed the same profession as their fathers, are billionaires and engineers holding 2 degrees and both are fascinated by transport and space exploration. It is easy to see why many people believe Elon Musk is a real-life Tony Stark.

For most of us our homes are where we spend the majority of our time. As our living space can make a great impact on our well-being we have made this infographic to highlight how we can make simple changes that can increase our happiness and lower our stress levels.

A home with poor lighting can be the cause of chronic sleep deprivation, which can lead to health problems such as headaches and depression. Lack of personal space through clutter and untidiness can also lead to fatigue and a lack of motivation. However, there are many simple things you can try which could change a miserable home into one in which you feel comfortable and relaxed.

The use of colour in the home can have varying psychological effects, such as using blue in the bedroom to lower the heart rate and aid restful sleep. Purple is historically associated with creativity and wealth and is perfect for the walls of a home office. If you would like your living room to be an oasis of calm and relaxation consider shades of green, or for stimulating dinner party conversations try painting the walls in red, an exciting colour associated with danger!

Feng shui is an ancient art and science developed over 3,000 years ago in China. It teaches how to balance the energies of any given space to assure health and good fortune for the people inhabiting it. Literally, ‘feng’ means wind and ‘shui’ means water, and in Chinese culture these elements are associated with good health, thus good feng shui came to mean good fortune, while bad feng shui means bad luck, or misfortune. We have included some simple feng shui tips to get you started, but there are many websites and books available should you wish to learn more.

It is the most populous state in the nation, and according to a study by the bureau of labor statistics almost exactly one half of the entire 37 million plus people are in the civilian labor force of California. That’s one huge labor pool, and when we consider a 2008 study by the SBA claimed that small firms and businesses make up a huge majority percentage of total employment for the state of California, then the health and landscape of the small business community in California takes on a entirely new dimension.

And what are their major concerns? What keeps this massive cog in the wheel of California commerce that is the small business community squeaky and potentially corroded?

Well, according to this survey conducted by California Bank and Trust, mostly the economy.

By and large small business owners have a good relationship with banks in California, which makes perfect sense given that a full 54 percent of respondents said that cashflow was their most major concern when running their business. Smart to maintain a sturdy relationship with a bank if you are a slow business month away from turning off the lights.

Also of interest is the fact that 37 percent of small business owners cite economic uncertainty as their biggest fear regarding operations, while 30 percent cite new laws and legislation as their biggest impediment to operations. One has to wonder whether a recent unpopular tax legislation aimed at small business owners had anything to do with this negative sentiment towards California legislation.

If you would have questioned whether I were on Facebook or Twitter back in 2003, I’d probably think you were insulting me in some cool and clever way. Fast forward 10 years–and these social media platforms are changing the way we view and react (literally) to the world around us.

Perhaps the most unique of these developments would be the forging of the social media and emergency disaster worlds. Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social networks have all facilitated the rescue and relief efforts of multiple disasters and have played an essential role in disaster response.

This infographic from USF’s online MPA focuses on three recent natural disasters–the Japan tsunami, Haiti earthquake and hurricane Sandy, to help illustrate the types of roles social media played in these unfortunate events.

Quality travel blogs are a highly sought-after space for any business that works in tourism, transport, travel insurance or any other travel-related field. The best of them attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, gaining huge follower numbers on social platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

As 2012 drew to a close – a rough year for many in the digital realm with its Penguin and Panda updates and requisite new content strategies formed accordingly – FHR, in collaboration with digital agency No Pork Pies, contacted a range of travel bloggers – with a survey to get a greater insight into the process of sponsoring travel sites. We got a total of 52 participants and created the infographic below based on findings.

It was a time-consuming task that involved a lot of painstaking email-gathering, sifting through data and, of course, design hours. But the value in it is that a huge element of content strategy for agencies and brands is now about having close collaborations and strong professional relationships with the owners of these increasingly powerful media outlets, so it’s worth getting a closer look at how they work with sponsors, how many blogs each website owner runs, if and how they monetise their sites, what brands they choose to work with.

On the flipside, it’s useful for other bloggers – many of whom operate solo – to get an idea of what their contemporaries are up to, and how they compare to others in the industry.

Birthed in the 11th century as apprenticeships for those looking to practice a trade, internships have come a long way. While they no longer involve years of back-breaking labor, they’re still a great way for students to develop skills in a real-world setting. In fact, 66 percent of employers expect relevant work experience from their entry-level hires.

The arduous transformation of the internship can be viewed in this infographic compiled by InternMatch, an online platform connecting the best intern candidates and employers. Here are some key points to note:

47% of employers have a structured internship program

63% of paid interns got a job offer

Interns are 70% more likely to be hired as full-time employees with a company

The average wage rate for interns at bachelor’s level is $16.21

Check out the full infographic below:

For those who don’t want to turn to Google for every question you might have, Clarity has just released a flowchart that may provide a direction for every potential piece of advice you could ever really need.

Personal advice? Are you sick? Have a question regarding medication? Go see a pharmacist. Health question not regarding medication? You’ll probably want to head over to WebMD. Need professional advice? Maybe you need help with marketing, but you only want to read blogs and not pay a 3rd party..well then the flow chart might direct you to Seth Godin or a site like the Socialmediaexaminer.com.

The all-encompassing flow chart takes some extreme care to jump down as many potential rabbit holes as it can foresee. But then again, if you ask the flow chart something that’s too weird to ask your parents, it will prompt you to “Google that shit bro.”

Find yourself:

After analyzing data from 89 markets worldwide, a new report by Mercer lists company car benefits as a key component in key talent retention programs, with brands such as Volkswagen, Ford, Toyota and Honda topping the list of cars offered to the most valued employees.

The report compares the nature of the company car benefit package for different levels of employees, showing how car allowance amounts and purchase prices of cars differ in the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

For example, it was shown that the average price allotted for a company car is always highest for the head of the organization, ranging from $47,009 in the Americas to $61,938 in Middle Eastern/African companies. Next in line is the executive level with the median purchase price being between $41,297 in the Americas and $46,041 in Europe, followed by management, then professional sales and professional non-sales levels, with similar purchase prices across the examined regions.

Here are the complete findings of Mercer’s 2013 Global Car Policies:
