Women have had to work hard to get where they are in the world of business today, something that American Business Women’s day, observed on the 22nd of September each year, aims to celebrate.
As the below infographic shows (click to enlarge), the rise of women’s equality in the workplace arguably first began in the 1850s with the Industrial Revolution. From then on, women slowly but surely began to secure more rights in all areas of life, from the vote, the formative years of feminism and the still hotly contested issues of contraception and abortion.
However, now that we’re some way into 2012, more than 160 years since women first began battling for equality, are we finally where we want to be in the business world?
