It’s not exactly ground-breaking news to say that you need to avoid eating sugary foods in excess to help with maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding diabetes, and combating dental issues such as cavities and tooth decay, but what surprises a lot of people is what foods have sugar, and in what quantities. Don’t believe me? Check out this chart of 10 popular food items and the approximate amounts of sugar (in grams) for each:
As you can see, while items like Starbucks Frappuccinos, Coca-Cola, and Ms. Field’s Chocolate Chip Cookies all have moderately high sugar content, as you would expect, items like Vitamin Water, Orange Juice, and even a Subway Chicken Sandwich all have noticeable amounts of sugar in them, enough to contribute to a number of issues.
As always, it’s important to consult with doctors and dietitians to see if your diet is too filled with these types of items, and your local dentist to see if these may be contributing to dental issues such as cavities and tooth decay that can have larger health implications.
