How to Market Through Google+ Effectively

How to Market Through Google+ Effectively image Google Plus Facebook Market Share3So you are now on Google+ since you’ve heard about the massive capabilities that it can handle when it comes to marketing your products and/or services. You are probably expecting that you will be able to open new doors and obtain more sales leads for your business. But as soon as you register for a Google account and get into Google+, BAM! You think you’re the only person there.

First of all, Google+ may be branded as a social media site but it certainly is far from the likes of Facebook. Yes Facebook has already established its ground as the top social media site since it has been around for far longer than Google+. However, Google’s new social interaction website has been slowly gaining up to social media giants (namely Facebook and Twitter).

Think about it like this: Facebook is targeted for the masses, Twitter is your personal shoutout box, whereas Google+ is there to let you search and interact with people with the same interests as you have.

However, it does not mean that you should only target your own interests. This also means that you can aim for your target markets as well and this is what Google’s social media site has to offer businesses (which, of course includes yours).

So how can you market your business to Google+ ? Here’s how:

  1. Tell the world who you are!

The first step to getting ground in Google+ is to complete your profile. Click on the “Profile” icon on the left and then click on the About button. People rarely interact with strangers; more so if they are complete strangers. So fill in every field as much as you can.

  2. Link back to your main site

Still under the About tab, you can put links to which you can link back to your site. This is good for two things: (1) Visitors can click on it to, well, visit your site, and (2) It alerts Google with more quality backlinks to your site, thus giving you an edge for your search engine ranking.

  3. Don’t be an anon, post pictures!

After you’re done with the text part, post a profile picture of you (or your business) and a cover photo. People like to see a more visual look of who you are and what you offer.

  4. Engage, engage, and engage some more!

Facebook has friends, Twitter has followers, now Google+ has circles. Ergo, you want your profile to be put in other’s circles to gain more popularity.

In order to do that, you need to engage; and by engage you have to be active. Now you don’t just go about giving posts +1′s or sharing them to your stream; what you have to do is post comments and a lot of them. This is to show the world that you are not just some other person waiting to get attention but you are actively pursuing it (in a good way).

Pretty soon, people will start adding you to their circles thus giving you more popularity, thus giving you an opportunity to gain more sales leads.

So now that you have your head start in marketing for your business within Google’s new social media site, you can even move on to more advanced steps for your campaign; say lead nurturing to even appointment setting.
