A Collection of Great Smoothie Recipes

Smoothies can be a nice refreshing treat after a workout or just in place of a meal on a warm summer day.  There’s nothing to stop you from making your own recipe.  But having a few tried and true recipes on hand can make the process a little easier and less time consuming.  Give these recipes a try.

For best results start with the liquid, add in the softer ingredients and finish by adding anything frozen or sticky.  Toss in your blender and enjoy.

Green Tea Ginger Smoothie

What you’ll need:

  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup coconut water
  • ½ cup silken tofu
  • ½ cup frozen mango cubes
  • 2 tablespoons walnut pieces
  • ½ teaspoon matcha
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger

Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

What you’ll need:

  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup coconut water
  • ½ cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1/3 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 2 tablespoons walnut pieces
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

Banana Mocha Smoothie

What you’ll need:

  • 1 cup milk
  •  ½ cup coffee (cooled)
  •  ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 frozen banana

Berry-Yogurt Smoothie with Honey

What you’ll need:

  • 1 cup mixed frozen berries (raspberries, strawberries, or blueberries)
  • ½ cup nonfat yogurt
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • ½ banana (optional)

Pomegranate Berry Smoothie

  • ½ cup pomegranate juice
  • ½ cup frozen blueberries
  • ½ cup frozen strawberries
  • ½ cup lowfat or nonfat vanilla yogurt

Cherry Vanilla Breakfast Smoothie

What you’ll need:

  • 1 cup nonfat milk
  • 2 cups unsweetened frozen cherries
  • 2 cups frozen raspberries
  • 2 cups frozen low-fat vanilla yogurt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups ice

Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

What you’ll need:

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup orange juice

  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • Ice (enough to make desired consistency)

Mocha Smoothie

What you’ll need:

  • 1 cup fat-free milk
  • 1 medium banana, peeled, cut into ½ inch slices, and frozen
  • 1 or 2 tablespoons sugar or honey
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons instant coffee crystals
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup small ice cubes or crushed ice

Paradise Freeze

What you’ll need:

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1 mango
  • 1 cup cranberry juice
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Bahama Mama

What you’ll need:

  • ¼ cup tofu
  • 1 ½ cups tropical V-8 Splash or other pineapple/citrus blend
  • ¼ cup plain non-fat yogurt
  • ½ banana
  • frozen strawberries, pineapple, and mango
  • water or soy milk to taste/consistency

Blueberry Pineapple Smoothie

What you’ll need:

  • 2 cups chilled fresh or frozen blueberries, slightly thawed
  • 1 cup chilled pineapple-orange juice, or pineapple-orange-strawberry juice
  • 1 8-ounce carton vanilla nonfat yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Banana-Cocoa Soy Smoothie

What you’ll need:

  • 1 banana
  • ½ cup silken tofu
  • ½ cup soymilk
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Raspberry-Avocado Smoothie

What you’ll need:

  • 1 avocado, peeled and pitted
  • ¾ cup orange juice
  • ¾ cup raspberry juice
  • ½ cup frozen raspberries, (not thawed)

Apricot Smoothie

What you’ll need:

  • 1 cup canned apricot halves in light syrup
  • 6 ice cubes
  • 1 cup nonfat plain yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar

Papaya Smoothie

What you’ll need:

  • 1 papaya, peeled, seeded and coarsely chopped (1 ¼ cups)
  • ¾ cup bottled fruit nectar, such as papaya, mango or peach
  • ½ cup buttermilk, (see Tip)
  • 2 ½ tablespoons sugar, preferably superfine
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 5 ice cubes

Now you have no excuse not to get out that blender and enjoy a nice delicious, healthy smoothie every day.
