Makeup brushes are essential to any beauty maven’s bag, but finding quality, inexpensive brushes isn’t always easy.
Either the bristles shed everywhere (Yes, I’m the girl who has gone out in public with brush hairs stuck to her face.), or they warp like crazy, or they just plain don’t work. It’s maddening, I tell you!
That is not to say that good brushes don’t exist on the cheap. They do. It just takes a bit of work to find them. That’s why I’m happy to introduce you to the latest and greatest by ELLE Cosmetics.
If you haven’t heard, ELLE Cosmetics is a fashion inspired cosmetics collection that recently launched exclusively at Kohl’s. The line is packed with everything from shadows and glosses to makeup bags and nail polishes. The hues on store shelves are to die for, but the brushes are what had me at hello.

The Powder Brush is big, dense, and fluffy, perfect for applying my favorite bronzer (Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder in Blonde 01 if you must know!). It also doesn’t get weighed down with product. In fact, a few swipes through your favorite powder, one quick tap on your wrist, and you’re left with the perfect amount of makeup to swirl on that gorgeous face of yours.

With both brushes, the fibers feel soft and smooth (not coarse or stringy), making them comparable to some of the top brands out there, but at a much lower price. Take the powder brush, which is $24. MAC’s version (on the right), is $42!

And the contour brush by ELLE is $12, while MAC’s medium angled shading brush (on the right) is $24.50.

Do the math, grab your bag, and meet me in the ELLE Cosmetics aisle at Kohl’s!
