Kristen Stewart, 22 years old, was chosen as the new face of the latest fragrance that Balenciaga is about to launch. Stewart had evolved from a rather plain teenager into a very stylish young woman. It is no wonder why she is a favorite in the world of high fashion.
Stewart has a predilection for anything edgy as well as fashion-forward. She is also a fan of budding designers. Her transformation style-wise is mostly notable in her choice of red carpet ensemble. Stewart has this edginess and mystique that everyone has grown to love. Ghesquière took notice of such transformation.
One of the most fascinated by Stewart’s looks and style is Nicolas Ghesquière, an in-house designer at Balenciaga. Of course, everyone knows Balenciaga. Ghesquière recognized Stewart’s edginess long before she became Bella Swan, the lead actress in the ‘Twilight’ movies opposite her reel and real sweetheart, Robert Pattinson.
Ghesquière even said during one of his interviews with WWD that Stewart had long been in his radar even before the actress earned millions of dollars doing ‘Twilight’. WWD is an anything-about-fashion online portal.
He said that he’s been impressed by Stewart as early as 2002 when the latter played Sarah Altman in the film ‘Panic Room’. Stewart played the role of the lead actress’ daughter.
Right there and then, he wished to work with her someday more so because Stewart is ‘so Balenciaga’.
Futher, Florabotanica is the name of the fragrance that Stewart endorses. The perfume contains amber, rose, carnation, caladium leaf and mint accords and vetiver.
Stewart was featured in the Florabotanica’s campaign. Stewart can be seen looking vampy wearing a structured dress with floral design to glorify the fragrance itself. Stewart is standing straight and confidently in front of the cameras.
Originally, Ghesquière planned that Stewart should play the naïve seductress but he changed his mind eventually.
According to Stewart, she was instructed to be in her most comfortable position after asking whether she should emphasize the dress when posing. The results of the shoot were very natural poses that Stewart executed.
Stewart herself was surprised at how the photos came out. She said that the pictures are very alive that when you wear the fragrance it will imbibe the feeling of wanting everyone around you to check you out. The truth is Stewart had never worn any scent before hence the experience was very refreshing for her.
Kristen was chosen as the fragrance endorser way back in January. She replaced Charlotte Gainsbourg, a famous singer and actress of Anglo-French descent. Florabotanica will be launched in autumn of this year.
When asked about the brand, Stewart had these words to say: ‘just cool’. She said that she was never a fan of brands but she always knew it when she was wearing a Balenciaga. She can easily recognize Balenciaga basically she loves the brand. What drew her to it is the brand’s provocative, unafraid and uncontrived nature.
Stewart top-billed ‘Snow White and The Huntsman’ which was released in April 2012.
