Gimme Back My Tabs… Oh Wait… There They Are!
With Facebook announcing Timeline format for Business pages today, the biggest question everyone is asking is where the heck did the custom tabs go?
Fortunately they actually are getting MORE real estate (for fewer tabs) than before.
Here’s where they’re hidden:

As you see, Facebook is now “featuring” four of our tabs in these upper square boxes… and providing access to the rest of them in an annoyingly small drop down arrow.
When visiting a tab via URL, if the tab is the lowest in the list, no menu is automatically opened that “forces” the visitor to see all the tabs available. This is a loss of a marketing trick and kinda makes me disappointed.
However, in the individual view for each tab, the layout is clean and stylish and a optional drop down menu does exist:

All in all, tabs remain reasonably accessible to both page admins and visitors alike.
I’m certain that the increased screen real estate for our four chosen tabs will give us a lot of flexibility to play around and really showcase our important ones.
This is probably a good time to make sure your tabs have “strong” names that are likely to get clicked!
What do you think about the new Timeline format for Pages?
