2. Defiance (Syfy)

Starting in April 2013, this show is set in the near future when a collection of aliens visit earth after their sun explodes. This show is one of the most anticipated by many SciFi and fans as well as Syfy fans hoping for a return to brilliance for their network. 3. Continuum (Syfy)

Starting on Monday, January 14 Continuum is a no-brainer hit as it’s already aired in Canada to great reviews. In the show, Rachel Nichols plays a cop from the future who is time-traveled back to the present along with a group of terrorists. The bad guys are trying to change the future as our star works with present day heros to stop them. Starring , Victor Webster, Erik Knudsen, Stephen Lobo, Roger Cross

4. The Following (Fox)

First airs on Monday, January 21 with Kevin Bacon as an alcoholic former FBI agent who just can’t help get involved when a serial killer he put away starts killing again by using social media! Also starring James PurefoyMaggie GraceNatalie Zea

5. The Americans (FX)

Starts on Wednesday, January 30 with Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as a couple of Russian KGB spies who live in suburban America in the 1980’s posing as a married couple so that they can become deeply embedded sleeper agents. Also starring Noah Emmerich

Bonus: Africa (Discovery)

Starts Tuesday, January 8 from the creators of the amazing Planet Earth and Life series.  Starring lions, tigers and bears, or more likely elephants, rhinos and giraffes, this show is a must-watch for any nature lover.
