The World’s Biggest Heists [Infographic]

Entertainment

We have heard about heists taking place throughout history. Do you ever wonder what heists took place in real life? Well we have four of the largest heists that did occur in the world which includes: Antwerp Diamond Center, Kent Securitas Depot, Central Bank of Iraq, and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

In 2003, the largest diamond heist took place at the Antwerp Diamond Center. Diamonds, gold, and  jewelry were stolen with a total value of $100 million. The vault had an immense amount of security which included: infrared heat detectors, a lock with 100 million possible combinations, and more. How could anyone manage to break into a vault with such high security? The question remains and the loot has never been recovered.

One of the largest bank heists was at Kent Securitas Depot. The Kent Securitas Depot heist started with a police imposter taking people to a farm at gunpoint. In the end, it took staff an hour to get unbound and pull the alarm. No one was harmed but $92.5 million was stolen.

The second largest bank heist occurred at the Central Bank of Iraq. The heist was perceived to be done by professionals but was later linked to Saddam.  Some of the money was recovered while the rest is still unaccounted for.

The largest art heist in the world occurred at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. The thieves acted as police investigating a disturbance. The culprits stole arts by Monet, Rembrandt, and more. To this day, the works have not been recovered.

Now you know that heists aren’t only in the movies. They have occurred all over the world and all have a unique story. Take a look at this infographic presented by homesecuritysystem.com to learn more about the details of the world’s largest heists.
