These past few days, the divorce between two prominent stars made it to the headlines. Many were curious about the real cause of the divorce between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Insider reports revealed that Tom’s devotion to his Scientology religion caused the divorce. There were speculations saying that Suri was entering the age wherein every child of a member of the Scientology religion must undergo a strict education under them. Why it is that Katie was preventing this to happen?

Pictures shown below uncover the headquarters of the Scientologists. Member of the higher order promised to be loyal to their religion for one billion years. The fact that their daughter Suri is to be sent to the Sea Organisation, also known as the Sea Org, triggered Katie to file a divorce. This religious order was said to function almost as a religious order within the church; former members have described it as embodying an “odd mixture of military and corporate management styles.”

It was said that members of the Sea Org were not allowed to conceive children and they can be punished by just looking at other members of the church. They were only being paid $50 per week. Punishments included was what they call ‘The Hole’. It is composed of two trailers set aside to punish their members. One member of the Scientology claimed that he was put inside the “The Hole,”and was left there for 18 hours without any food. FBI was already investigating if there are any signs of human trafficking happening inside the religious order. Paul Haggis, a world class director and a previous member of the said order also talked about the brutal punishment the order has. He also said that, children as young as ten years old were treated like ‘child slaves in Haiti.’ “I was in cult for 34 years,”Haggis said.

Members were not allowed to leave their base, if they do so, a special team was formed to track down those who left using physical and emotional power to make them come back. The whole place was guarded not only by humans, but also camouflaged sniper-style nest bunker, motion sensors and razor-tipped fences. Some members can also volunteer themselves to the punishment. Being influenced by the elders, they were made to confess all night, they were deprived with food and sleep and sometimes they were asked to wear black.
There were also filed suits against the church. Claire and Marc Headley filed a case against the church in 2009. Both of them joined the organization in their teen years and fell in love. The order’s rule stated that they were not allowed to have children, and Claire was forced into two abortions. However, the couple lost the case against the Scientology.
Holmes’ family, who are devout Catholics, were often said to have misunderstandings with Tom. Katie is now filing a sole custody with Suri. She is also pulling out her daughter from the New Village Leadership Academy in California, which is considered to be a school connected to the Church of Scientology. Katie is enrolling her 6 year old daughter in a Catholic School in New York.
