Her documentary Part of Me surely showed her fans how Katy Perry is just like everybody else…that she is just human. Included in the documentary were footages of the star breaking down into tears as she struggles to be professional while on her concert tours. The public knows that Katy has an ongoing divorce with Russell Brand after being married for 14 months.
In the documentary movie, Katy was seen with Russell happily in love as she performs her 2011 concert tour. However, in later footages, Katy could be seen being alone and staring at something for a long time seemingly comprehending what had happened to her relationship with Russell. Most of the time, Katy would spend more time away from her husband because of the tour and footages show how much she thought of him at most times. The documentary also shows Katy striving to make visits to Russell in order to devote some time for their relationship despite the busy schedule. A highlight of the documentary pertaining to their relationship is their seemingly different views when it comes to having a family. At 37, Russell wants to have children of his own while the recording star tend to be more focused on her career and says that she’s not yet ready. Footage in Brazil shows Katy sobbing and production did not whether to continue the show or not. But afterwards, she composed herself again and went on with the show. During breaks in her tour, Katy was also seen in the footages already exhausted and would still want to see her husband. However, her crew told her that she may not be able to see Russell for 18 more days which made Katy feel more distressed.
The documentary also shows Katy being asked by one of her crew if Russell was coming but replied that her husband should be, but he wouldn’t. She also admitted that she is striving hard to keep their marriage alive but she seemed hopeless. One of her close friends said that Katy should have time to rest after her tour but she was still thinking about visiting her husband afterwards. Katy recalled that she would asked the production to rest for about 3-4 days to giver her time to relax and bond with her family especially with Russell which was quite tiresome since her crew was always on the road. However, the recording star said that she is willing to make the sacrifice because she made a commitment to both her husband and fans. There were also instances, she added, that arriving from her break, she sometimes had jet-lagged a few hours before the show but still strives to manage to put on a good one.
Communication was not hard, but it was the content of such communication which makes it hard for Katy at times. Actually, she received a text from Russell about having children and the star replied that she will have them when she decides to be a mother. But seemingly, Russell’s reply was not what she expected which made her break into tears again. Katy described herself as a romantic and that she believes in fairytale, but she knows that reality often says otherwise.
