A Californian, a Canadian, and a British celebrity walk into a club…it sounds like the start of a bad joke, right? But in fact it was nothing more than the after party following the release of Katy Perry’s autobiographical documentary film, Katy Perry: Part of Me. After the screening at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, the trio of unlikely pals, along with several other friends, headed to a celebratory shindig in the Biebs-mobile, a posh Mercedes-Benz minivan valued at $200K (apparently he left the Fisker Karma at home so that he could chauffer his many friends in style). Also along for the ride was Bieber’s long-time girlfriend (hey, anything more than six months is long-term for pop stars!), Selena Gomez. Notably absent, however, was Pattinson’s significant other (on- and off-screen flame Kristin Stewart, whom he apparently presented with a very important piece of jewelry recently).
The group took a ride to a lounge in West Hollywood that is co-owned by actor David Arquette. It seems that the Scream star is keen to get a fresh lease on life; not only did he finally file divorce papers this month after a long separation from wife Courtney Cox, but he opened the club Bootsy Bellows, reportedly named after his mother’s burlesque persona, on the very night that Perry and her troop were looking to celebrate her movie release. So in essence there were two major parties happening that night, with plenty of star power packed inside.
While Biebs and Gomez rocked their couplehood as only uber-wealthy teens can (in matching pink outfits – she wore a cute little mini-dress and Jimmy Choos while he donned a jacket in similarly flamingo-like hues), people from the Perry party flitted to and from their table, where the too-cute couple was canoodling and holding hands all night. Seen at the table for the majority of the evening were Perry herself, Playboy Club actress Amber Heard, and Raising Hope actress Shannon Woodward. Apparently the group was very chummy, sharing mini cupcakes and taking photos of each other (presumably to keep their legions of Twitter followers up-to-date).
While Bieber and Gomez were apparently the only underage party-goers present for the club opening, plenty of other young stars were in the crowd, including Bieber’s latest ingénue, Carly Rae Jepsen (the “Call Me Maybe” singer will team up with Bieber on an upcoming album), as well as Unfabulous actress Emma Roberts, Glee’s Chord Overstreet (trouty mouth), Alex Pettyfer (of Alex Rider fame), and Ashley Benson from Pretty Little Liars. Queen Latifah was also spotted in the crowd of clubbers, hot off her gay outing at the Long Beach Pride Parade (although she subsequently denied that her comments were meant as a public affirmation of her long-rumored lesbianism).
After the party wrapped up, the whole crew once again piled into Bieber’s minivan (apparently the premier limousine company couldn’t beat the amenities in his personal vehicle) and left amidst a sea of paparazzi, headed for parts unknown. They were in such a hurry that they refused to answer any of the crowd’s questions about the movie or the after-party, and they almost left the notoriously camera-shy Pattinson behind (gal pal Shannon Woodward had to knock on the door to get the duo in the van before it pulled away). So, you know, it was just a typical night in Hollywood.
