American Idol crowned a new star Thursday night. Candice Glover overcame more challenges in season 12, like a broken toe, to defeat Kree Harrison. This marks the first time a woman has won in six years, that win going to Jordan Sparks. Candice Glover auditioned twice in the past, in seasons 9 and 11.

Are they dropping like musical flies? According to a new report, Nicki Minaj will not be returning to ‘American Idol’ next season. US Weekly says Minaj will definitely not be back, and this is just part of an ever-churning rumor mill as the season closes, and as the show hits record-low ratings. It has also been reported that all four judges will be axed to makeover the show.

The bass player of Metallica Robert Trujillo has lately opened up about the future projections for this legendary metal band’s clear follow up to “Death Magnetic” (2008) saying that the band guys are hitting on a goal to come up this time with ‘something special’ for the fans in their new album and that is supposed to come up in the 2015, early or late not mentioned. The similar kind of statement has been issued by the legendary drummer of this metal band Lars Ulrich saying that while our fans have been quite very much excited with the thought of hearing new & great Metallica tunes soon, but they all will have to wait for almost two more years to get a hand on the band’s next full length.

On the upcoming release from this well admired metal band, Lars Ulrich said, “We’re in the early stages of writing, and all I can say is there are some good things lurking,” while giving statement. The famous drummer also mentions about the precise release time for their fans. I hope by the end of this year, or maybe early next year we will come up with the album. “15 is more realistic,” as said by the decade’s most renowned and popular drummer.

But that does not leaves the fans deprived of their well loved band. During this time, the fans will be fully able to catch up their lovable band live in the flesh, set for taking place on 8th and 9th June at Belle Isle Park of Detroit at the band’s second royal annual Orion Music + More festival. The metal band will be headlining two nights of this well liked festival, with supplementary rocking performances of Deftones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Silversun Pickups, Rise Against, Infectious Grooves, the Joy Formidable, Dropkick Murphys, Fu Manchu, the Bronx and many more. So get ready to ROCK ON.

Zombieland series is over before it began.

I announced a few weeks ago that Amazon was starting up a Zombieland series and you could watch the pilot episode for free on Amazon.

After the pilot debuted on Amazon, a lot of viewers and critics had something to say about the film and most of it was very negative. Die hard fans of the Zombieland movie were pissed off to say the least. After the negative reviews and comments started pouring in, Amazon has decided that they are not going to continue with the series.

The pilot was initially released to gauge whether or not there would be interest in a Zombieland series. Amazon got their answer, but it’s not the one that they were hoping for. One of the producers and co-writers for the film has went to Twitter and posted the following message:

Our Zombieland series will not be moving forward on Amazon. Sad for everyone involved. I’ll never understand the vehement hate the pilot received from die-hard Zombieland fans. You guys successfully hated it out of existence. Anyway, we did our best, and we’re very proud of our team. – Rhett Reese, Executive Producer and Co-Writer for Zombieland the series.

The pilot episode can still be seen on Amazon, but don’t ever expect to see anything more than a pilot episode for this dead series.

It’s looking like NBC may not continue Hannibal — cancelling the show.

All work and no Hannibal makes Steven a dull boy…

NBC is currently in discussions as to whether or not they will be making a second season of Hannibal. Apparently, the show is extremely expensive to make. Despite this news, there are other networks out there, including Amazon, that is eagerly awaiting NBC to make a decision.

Apparently, if NBC doesn’t renew the series, another network, like Amazon, may decide to pick it up.

Hannibal started off very strong and a second season would be a no-brainer. However, as the series continues, the numbers started to decline. Now, a second season is the topic of discussion at NBC.

I’m going to be pissed if I don’t get my Hannibal

You know, there’s not many shows I truly enjoy watching on television. Hannibal, American Horror Story and Vikings are at the top of my list.

Hannibal is a bad ass show, in my book. Every episode surprises me, there’s plenty of gore and there’s never a lack of action.

I guess no one wants to actually put money into making a good product and would rather cut the budget in half and pump out a mediocre product. Hell, we all saw what happened to The Walking Dead after the budget got cut in half. The whole second season of the show took place on a farm. The whole third season of the show took place in a prison….sigh.

Either way, let’s hope that NBC decides to continue with Hannibal.

Just a few days ago, the Blue Power Ranger, David Yost, came out and said that he wouldn’t be down for a Power Rangers reunion show. Apparently, the producers weren’t very kind to him, because he was gay.

Now, Black Power Ranger, Walter Jones, is saying that he’s backing David Yost’s decision not to do a reunion show, and he’s not willing to do one, either. Walter Jones says that producers weren’t very kind to him, either.

I’m very sorry to disappoint the fans as I would have loved to be a part of it,” Jones tells TMZ. “David, who I still keep in touch with regularly, is a very great guy and it would have been fun to work together again on something we helped originate.

Sources have come forth and said that David Yost and Walter Jones aren’t only holding out because of the way that they were treated by producers, but they’re holding out because they feel like they haven’t been offered enough money to make up for the abuse.

It’s certainly starting to look like a reunion show isn’t going to happen. Here’s the current standings as far as cast members are concerned.

• Jason David Frank, the Green Power Ranger says he would do a reunion show.
• David Yost, Blue Power Ranger, says he wouldn’t do it.
• Walter Jones, Black Power Ranger, says he wouldn’t do it.
• Thuy Trang, Yellow Power Ranger, passed away in 2001 due to a car accident.

The other Power Rangers haven’t made a statement as to whether or not they would do a reunion show.

We’ve all had that moment of lyric-related shock. You’re singing along to your favorite tune in the car with a friend when he or she turns down the radio and turns to look at you.

“What did you just say?” you are asked.

You repeat the lyric you just belted out, only to be met with laughter as your friend explains that the lyric you’ve been singing for the past decade is hilariously incorrect.

Though songwriters may pride themselves on their poignant and thought-provoking words, it’s common for fans to jumble these sentiments and create an entirely new meaning for the tune.

By now, you’ve probably met someone who thought Jimi Hendrix was singing, “Excuse me while I kiss this guy” during “Purple Haze” when he was actually singing about kissing the sky.

Those who enjoyed the pop smash “Oops! I Did It Again” by Britney Spears are often surprised to find out that the lyrics actually state, “That I’m sent from above” and that Britney was not, in fact, singing about “medicine from a dove.”

Other common misheard lyrics include:

“Don’t go around tonight, well it’s bound to take your life, there’s a bathroom on the right” from CCR’s song “Bad Mood Rising.” In reality, the lyrics go, “there’s a bad moon on the rise.” This one small tweak changes the meaning of the song quite a bit.

Some people thought Elton John was singing, “Hold me closer, Tony Danza” when he was actually saying, “Hold me closer, tiny dancer.” Needless to say, that was not correct.

Rolling Stones fans may have wondered why the group got involved with a pizza shop as they sang, “I’ll never leave your pizza burning.” In reality, the song says, “I’ll never be your beast of burden.” Given the title of the tune, it makes a lot more sense.

If you were a fan of the ‘90s classic “Tubthumping” by Chumbawumba, you may have felt unsure about why the song explained, “I got no thumb, but it grew back again. You’re never gonna keep me down.” In reality, the group was singing, “I get knocked down, but I get up again. You’re never gonna keep me down.” It’s okay; the British accents must have thrown you off.

Take a second listen to Nirvana’s “Smells like Teen Spirit” and you’ll realize that Kurt Cobain is actually not saying, “Here we are now, in containers” but rather, “Here we are now, entertain us.”

Interestingly enough, as I was creating this post I realized that for roughly two decades I’ve been butchering the lyrics to Alanis Morisette’s “You Oughta Know.” I always wondered why she was singing, “It’s not fair to deny me of the cross-eyed bear that you gave to me.” In reality, no teddy bears were harmed in the making of this song. She’s actually saying, “It’s not fair to deny me of the cross I bear that you gave to me.”

A new Gremlins flick is coming out and needless to say, I absolutely can’t wait. There were rumors going around that there could be a Gremlins sequel coming out, but it’s actually going to be a remake.

As of right now, there’s slim-pickings as far as official news is confirmed. Unfortunately, a Director hasn’t been selected to direct the film yet. Also, there’s no news as to who will actually write the screenplay.

Let’s just HOPE that Gizmo isn’t some sort of computer generated images walking around the screen. There’s no way CGI is going to match the awesomeness of the original Gizmo, which was an animatronic puppet.

If you haven’t seen the original films, you deserve to be beaten in the middle of a street with sticks and sharp rocks.

The new “Late Night” show host has been chosen! Drum roll please… Seth Meyers will be filling Jimmy Fallon’s big shoes. Meyers is the head writer of “Saturday Night Live” and hosts the “Weekend Update” segment. He will take over in 2014. He will officially be the fourth person to host “Late Night” on NBC, when Jimmy Fallon takes over for Jay Leno on the “Tonight” show.

Did James Deen get Farrah Abraham pregnant?

Farrah Abraham is so concerned that James Deen may have gotten her pregnant that she went out to purchase a pregnancy test.

According to sources, Farrah Abraham hadn’t had sex in over a year when she got naughty with James Deen for her sex tape. Of course, James Deen didn’t wear a condom for the filming of the tape, either. Also, Farrah wasn’t on birth control.

Farrah missed her period, so she made a trip to get a pregnancy test at her local pharmacy.

Farrah is clearly one of those people that will just never learn. Unfortunately, people will pay to see her sheer stupidity caught on camera.

Netflix and YouTube continue to offer new ways of watching your favorite shows and movies without turning on a television set. Netflix announced this week the addition of post-play for iOS apps, which is perfect for marathon viewing. This news is being released just in time for the Arrested Development series which will air only on Netflix starting this month. This “could be instrumental in popularizing a new way to watch and make TV–outside the TV-network system, without commercials or even weekly schedules.”

However, other collectors are very strict about which publishers, or even which series they choose to collect. This comes down to personal preference. Comic books can be worth practically nothing, if they are one of the many mass-produced, well-established pieces. If however, you have a book that is a rare item, and it is in good condition, it is likely worth a lot of money.

Kevin Smith talked about potentially funding his next film, Clerks III, via Kickstarter on Reddit.

Here’s what he had to say:

As for funding the flick – we nearly Kickstarted the budget back in November (talked about at great length here: http://smodcast.com/episodes/giant-sized-annual-1-clerks-iii-audience-0/ ). But now I’m feeling like that’s not fair to real indie filmmakers who need the help. Unlike back when I made CLERKS in ’91, I’ve GOT access to money now – so I should use that money and not suck any loot out of the crowd-funding marketplace that might otherwise go to some first-timer who can really use it. So if I can get away with it, I’m gonna try to pay for CLERKS III myself. As much as I love the crowd-funding model (and almost did it myself in early 2009 with RedStateGreen.com), that’s an advancement in indie film that belongs to the next generation of artists. I started on my own dime, and if I’m allowed, I should finish on my own dime.

In a more pointed argument (but remarkably similar sentiment), Emmy winner Ken Levine had this to say on his blog about Zach Braff and Veronica Mars raising money on Kickstarter:

Zach Braff is trying to raise money on Kickstarter to fund a movie he wants to make. Zach Braff is a good actor and a fine filmmaker. GARDEN STATE was a terrific movie. But I wouldn’t give him a dime.

Why?

Because it defeats the whole purpose of Kickstarter.

The idea – and it’s a great one – is that Kickstarter allows filmmakers who otherwise would have NO access to Hollywood and NO access to serious investors to scrounge up enough money to make their movies. Zach Braff has contacts. Zach Braff has a name. Zach Braff has a track record. Zach Braff has residuals. He can get in a room with money people. He is represented by a major talent agency. But the poor schmoe in Mobile, Alabama or Walla Walla, Washington has none of those advantages.

A new accuser has emerged. Choreographer Wade Robson filed documents against Jackson’s estate.

Tim Lambesis allegedly tried to hire an undercover detective to kill his estranged wife, Meggan, who had filed for divorce in September.

I think everyone saw this one coming. Comic book flicks are popular and (unfortunately) will not be going away anytime soon.

That being said, Iron Man 3 kicked some major ass the the box office. As a matter of fact, nothing even came close in comparison.

If it follows in the steps of its predecessors, it’s bound to be an entertaining movie!

American Idol viewers were disappointed to say goodbye to 19-year-old Texas native Amber Holcomb last night. After her elimination from the competition was announced, Holcomb broke down in tears as she belted out her last song “I Believe In You and Me,” originally sung by Whitney Houston. ”Before the performance, we watched the video of memorable clips, and that always gets to me every single week. It was just a lot. It was really overwhelming.”

While her impromptu waterworks may lead some to think that the elimination blindsided the singer, Holcomb says otherwise. ”They always say an Idol can feel it when it’s time, and I’m not going to lie; I honestly did feel like I was the next to go.” However, she realizes that even though the competition has reached an end for her, it’s not the end of the experience. She gets to join the other contestants for the tour this summer. “I was really sad, but at the same time, I told myself that I still get to go on tour. I’ll see them all again, so I was happy. Tickets are on sale today, by the way!”

Speaking of the connections she made during her time on American Idol, it seems the relationship between Holcomb and former cast-off Burnell Taylor is still brewing. Holcomb played it coy when asked about the New Orleans crooner, only saying, ”We text a little bit, but we’re just really excited to go on tour together and see each other then.”

In addition to the tour, Holcomb has big plans for her future. The southern songstress believes that there is room in the industry for someone with her prowess, and she plans to keep the onstage persona she developed on the show, something that judge Nicki Minaj often praised. “My style, personally, it changes depending on my mood. I feel like, right now, there’s nobody like me, so why fix something that isn’t broken?”

The sky is the limit when it comes to her career. “I see myself in magazines, on every television channel, on Billboards, on the Grammys – all that good stuff.” She also hopes to dabble in acting and thinks Glee is “really relatable right now” for her. When it comes to singing, Holcomb names Minaj, Lil Wayne, Rihanna and Frank Ocean as artists she hopes to collaborate with someday.

Jeff Hanneman, co-founder and guitarist for heavy metal band Slayer, passed away of liver failure in Southern California Thursday at the age of 49. He became enthralled in military and war movements, themes that inspired his music. His father was a World War II veteran and his brothers served in Vietnam.

Netflix getting rid of 2,000 movies on May 1st.

This is going to be one of those love-hate things. Netflix is going to get rid of 2,000 movies, but they’re also going to add 500 new ones to the service.

It’s about time they started adding more flicks to their instant streaming service, but they’re taking some away, as well?

Netflix will be getting rid of movies that can be considered “older classics from the 20th century.”

Netflx listed these movies as examples:

• Big Daddy
• Cruel Intentions
• Octopussy

What’s even more appalling about the fact that Netflix is getting rid of 2,000 movies is the fact that they consider “Big Daddy” a classic.

If you’re really going to miss the flicks that Netflix is getting rid of, you can check them out via the Warner Archive Instant service. Apparently, Warner is starting up a service that will allow you to find and watch hard-to-find flicks. In other words, you’ll have to sign up for a whole other service to get access to the movies that Netflix willingly tossed in the recycle bin. Yeah, I think it sounds like bullsh*t, too.

A representative of Netflix had this to say:

Netflix is a dynamic service, we constantly update the TV shows and movies that are available to our members. We will add more than 500 titles May 1, but we also have titles expiring, this ebb and flow happens all the time.

We are selective about what’s available to watch on Netflix. We often license TV shows and movies on an exclusive basis, so we can provide a unique experience. We’ll forego, or choose not renew, titles that aren’t watched enough. We always use our knowledge about what our members love to watch to decide what’s available on Netflix. Our goal is to be an expert programmer, offering a mix that delights our members, rather than trying to be a broad distributor.

The first pair was Tawnya Reynolds and Garrett Gardner of Team Shakira and it was clear right away that they were very different because Reynolds performed “Hell on Heels” by the Pistol Annies while Gardner chose to sing “Too Close” by Alex Clare. It was no surprise when Shakria chose Garner because she seemed to really enjoy his performance.

Team Adam’s first pair was Midas Whale singing “Higher Ground” by Stevie Wonder and Amber Carrington singing “I’m With You” by Avril Lavign. Levine chose Carrington. His team was up again, this time with Amy Whitcomb singing “House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals and Caroline Glacer singing “Little Talks” by Of Monsters and Men. They were complete opposites and ended up choosing Glacer.

Team Shakria was up again. Kris Thomas sang Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” and was a little nervous but pulled it off. His partner, Mary Miranda, sang her first English song and surprised the audience with “Every Breath You Take” by Sting but just couldn’t make the performance work despite her beautiful voice.

Team’s Adam Orlando Dixon went up against Judith Hill and Hill’s experience was a clear advantage. She performed “Always on My Mind” and delivered a powerhouse performance while Dixon had a weak rendition of “All My Life” so there was no competition and no one was surprised when Adam chose Judith Hill.

Shakira chose two Latina singers, Karina Iglesias and Monique Abaddie, to go up against each other. Abaddie chose to take a risk by singing a Celine Dion, but the judges were not impressed.

Team’s Adam’s final brawl was between Warren Stone and Sarah Simmons.Stone’s performance of “I Just Died in Your Arms” was good, it could not stand up to Simmon’s version of “Wild Horses.”

Team Shakira’s final pairing was Sasha Allen and Shawna P. Allen sang “At Last” and during the performance, she engulfed the entire audience. Shawna P then sang “Maybe I’m Amazing” but was no competition for Allen’s inspiring performance.

After this round, Shakira’s team consisted of Kris Thomas, Karina Iglesias, Sasha Allen, and Garret Gardner. Team Adam now has Amber Carrington, Caroline Glaser, Judith Hill, and Sarah Simmons.

Next time will be Team Usher and Team Blake.

The Big Wedding has a vamped up cast, including Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, Susan Sarandon, Robin Williams, Katherine Heigl, Amanda Seyfried and Topher Grace. This new romantic comedy directed by Justin Zackham is about a modern family attempting to remain sane for the weekend of Alejandro (Ben Barnes) and Missy O’ Connor’s (Amanda Seyfriend) wedding. Don (Robert De Niro) and Ellie Griffin (Diane Keaton) are a long divorced couple who are playing “happy” for their adopted son’s wedding. Alejandro’s biological mother is also in attendance, after deciding to fly halfway around the world. Not only does she not approve of divorce, but she also doesn’t know that Alejandro’s foster parents are adopted. The Griffin family tries to keep their cool as they are bombarded with the past, present and future throughout the weekend.

Should you see it?: This movie will be one for the books. One that people will remember for years to come. With this cast, how could you not see it? With the soft hues of humor intertwined with an old and new story of love, you can not miss it. It has the dysfunctional family attempting to keep it together, old romance, comedy, and a real story.

Who to take: All people who enjoy Rom-Com’s should without a doubt see this movie. It has Katherine Heigl in it: Queen of Rom-Com city. 27 Dresses, The Ugly Truth, Life as We Know It. The list goes on and on. Do you love the humor of Diane Keaton, Robert Williams, and Robert De Niro? Than you need to see this movie as soon as possible.

How do you avoid wedding chaos?

Cupid’s Advice:

It seems that wedding chaos is inevitable if your family is the slightest bit dysfunctional. Any wedding malfunctions are common, even if it seems drastic and not normal. To keep the slight malfunctions from turning into complete chaos, you need a leader. A person to put everyone in line, to keep calm and organized. Cupid has some more advice on this:

1. Keep the bride calm: As much as men can say they have equal part involvement as the bride, they’re wrong. Most women have been thinking about their wedding since they were young. They have been checking over the table arrangement, moisture of the cake, songs played at the reception….all since day 1. They know their wedding like the back of the hand, and if a slight problem occurs; the bride must remain calm.

2. Unwanted guests: At some wedding, unwanted guests may arise. Ex-husbands, old friends, abandoned family members; they all could pop in at any moment. With these unwanted guests showing up at your perfect wedding, chaos may loom. The best thing to do here is stay perfectly calm, and have a responsible and unbiased adult exit them out of the venue. No chaos if there are no unwanted guests.

3. Caterer/flowers: Check in with your caterer constantly days before your wedding. Make sure they have the right times, addresses, and menu. Chaos will emerge if there is no food at the wedding. I Need More Vikings!

I DVR’d the season finale of Vikings on Sunday night and finally got to watch it last night, before going to bed. Damn, it was an awesome season finale for an awesome show to say the least.

Vikings is a bad ass show and I highly suggest watching it. Let me tell you, this isn’t one of your typical bullshit television shows.

Yes, there is some drama, but it’s actually good drama. The drama is actually somewhat brutal and appalling. The drama in Vikings should NOT be confused with the drama in television shows like The Walking Dead. The Walking Dead is practically like watching a soap opera.

Vikings is brutal!

Vikings is bad ass and brutal. Hell, the drama in this show is a woman bleeding from her crotch as her stillborn child gets carried out in rags. See what I mean about brutal drama now?

Also, this show does a great job at keeping the audience on their toes at all times. You never know what’s going to happen in each episode.. There’s been some shit go down in this first season that I definitely did not see coming. There were parts where I literally wondered how the show would be able to continue, but it has. It just shows how a great mix of excellent writing, cinematography and brutal action can make for one hell of a television show.

The Season Finale of Vikings

“All Change” (Vikings Season Finale Episode) Description:

At the behest of King Horik, Ragnar assembles a small party to travel to Gotaland (modern day Sweden) to resolve a land dispute with the area’s leader, Jarl Borg. Ragnar’s renown precedes him and Jarl Borg is intrigued–has he found a new ally or is Ragnar just a puppet of the king? Meanwhile in Kattegat, with a plague taking its toll on the village, the people look to Lagertha to help appease the gods.

I thought the season finale was definitely bad ass.

It seems like in every episode someone is trying to talk Ragnar’s brother into turning on Ragnar. Apparently, he’s going to turn on him, too. So, Season 2 should definitely be interesting. I can’t wait to see how that plays out.

The plague swept through and took out a slew of people with it. I was surprised that the priest didn’t die, as well. He was worse off than Ragnar’s daughter, but he still somehow made it.

However, I have a question about the plague:

Why did the plague come in the first place? Why did the plague stop?

If you remember right, Ragnar said that the Gods will put things in front of you as a challenge. He said this in reference to Aslaug, A.K.A the woman he cheated on his wife with.

After having sex with Aslaug, the plague struck his home village.

The plague did eventually go away, but it was after two things happening:

Ragnar’s son busted him out for cheating on Lagertha (Ragnar’s wife) and made him promise that he would never do it again. Later that night, Aslaug tried to have sex with Ragnar and he denied her.

Lagertha sacrificed a goat to the Gods in hopes that they would accept the sacrifice and the plague would stop.

So, was it the sacrifice of the goat that made the plague come to an end or was it that Ragnar denied Aslaug and she really was a challenge sent by the Gods?
