So, you’ve heard that the right online video marketing campaign can work wonders, huh? Well, you’re right! However, you can’t see video success without the right scripts.
How do you know if your scripts are good enough?
Your video scripts should say these 6 things about you. If they don’t, you need to go back to the drawing board!
1. ”I’m an expert”
All of your web content should establish your expertise, but it’s an especially important message to send in your videos. After all, people are going to be watching you (or, at the very least, listening to you in a voiceover) and counting on you to sum up complex issues in a minute or two. You’ve got to have enough expertise to be able to explain things in a way that’s easy-to-understand — while also being incredibly interesting.
Most of the Average Joe’s can’t do that. That’s why their videos never generate any results!
2. ”I’m confident”
In addition to knowing your stuff, you’ve got to have enough confidence in yourself, your business, and what you’re saying to be able to say it on camera. Even if you’re just doing voiceovers, viewers will use your voice to gauge whether or not you REALLY know what you’re talking about.
If you come across as confident, viewers will be more likely to think of you as head and shoulders above your competitors.
3. ”I’m honest”
Any time people can see and hear you, that’s a good thing. It shows them you’re not some kind of slimeball who’s hiding behind the anonymity of a computer screen, just trying to make a quick buck.
By using videos to get out in front of your target audience — even if it’s just a brief “welcome to our website” video — people are going to get a look at the “real you”. If you’re an honest, legitimate business owner who’s a pleasure to work with, viewers will be able to tell. And they’ll really appreciate it — since honesty and integrity tend to be a little lacking out on the world wide web!
4. “I’m on the cutting edge”
Even though online videos are getting more and more popular by the day, most businesses haven’t jumped onboard the bandwagon yet. By starting your own online video marketing campaign now, you can make yourself one of the Joneses, instead of trying to keep up with them later!
5. ”I want you to visit my website/join my email list/contact me”
Great online video scripts end with a call-to-action that flows naturally. It’s kind of like a resource box at the end of an article, but better!
And remember, if your script is full of genuinely helpful information, viewers will be chomping at the bit to find out how they can take action, so you don’t have to come up with a call-to-action that’s overly salesy, hyped up, or cheesy. Instead, a simple sentence or two is all you need!
6. ”I don’t need a hyped up sales pitch”
Speaking of hype, you can completely eliminate it from your business’ content when you have a great online video marketing strategy! That’s because the best video scripts act as a “pre-sale”. They use solid facts and figures to explain how a product or service can help your viewers — rather than just hitting them with a sales pitch. Just like your other pieces of quality content, quality videos provide much-needed answers and solutions.
By providing your viewers with the information they need, you’re encouraging them to share your video on their social networking sites and to send the link to their friends. When you can get your videos out in front of those targeted eyeballs, you don’t need to rely on sales copy that makes ridiculous promises that no one’s going to take seriously anyways!

One I’d add is “I know the competition and why we’re better”. Typically your product has competitors (and if not, lucky you!), so you want to convey that you understand the options and why you should be chosen.
*Great* addition, Anish!! Thanks! :)
