Export A Single or Batch of Posts, Pages Individually or by Category or Author

Getting Specific Posts & Pages Exported From WordPress

Ever wondered how to export PART of your WordPress content?

Maybe one author in a multi-author blog is leaving…

Perhaps one category is being used to seed a new blog…

Whatever the reason, sometimes you just don’t want to copy the entire site contents into a new or different site!

That’s where WordPress advanced export options come in!

Export Single or Groups of Post/Pages and Their Comments from WordPress

Visit your WordPress Dashboard (admin) and in the left sidebar, go to Tools. Then in the dropdown/pop-out click on “Export”

Here you can see we have a wide range of available export options.

Sometimes, this is enough!

For example if you just need to move a category or if you just need to export all posts by an author… this will do the trick easily!

But what happens when you need to export only, for example, four of dozen posts from the same category and author?

Easy!

Simply make EITHER a new author or a new category and move those posts to that category or author. (You will have to use author if you are dealing with pages as pages do not have categories.)

This will let you move a select few (or individual) post or pages, with their associated stuff (images & comments) into another blog.

Now, of course you will want to delete them on the original blog after they are successfully imported on the new blog, but that’s pretty easy.

I had to delve into this recently when I had been testing importing my Google+ posts (and the comments from there) into a WordPress test blog. I wanted to migrate them over to this blog without bringing along all the other test posts and pages on that blog. So this solution made it easy!
